Why is western show clothes, and tactics, so appealing?

Legitimate question. I've always known the difference between due west and show English-English is simple and refined, western flashier, louder, more striking. They are bright, sequined show shirts, boots, cowboy hats. Silver or other things like everywhere in the tack, usually in size and stressed. Is there any reason for this? Personally, I ride in English, and find all the bling .... ..... very distracting on the edge of bad taste. I mean, should be about how you and your horse perform, not how well he can overshadow (quite literally) to the other competitors, and distract attention from his horse's performance and his own, right? So this is just tradition, or is there a purpose behind that?

Even in the 1980s was not really a lot of "bling" in the showring WP. Silver, yes, but not really about the clothing, chaps, hat, tie, gloves, western shirt, then in the 1990s, we suddenly saw sequined vest, jackets and shirts. I remember the first Once I had an AM / costume Showmanship custom made and I like the seamstress showed me all the tissues just shook his head and laughed. But back then in the 1960s, we had buckstitching in our chairs. I'm surprised by the cost of being clear, if you're riding huntseat or dressage. In the decade of 1970 I remember paying $ 350.00 for a pair of boots, Dehner Custom Made, though at the time I never paid more than $ 50.00 for a pair of western boots.
