What kind of technology was used by old west cowboys?

And how did they use it?

I'm doing a project for school and I need to know what kind of technology they used in the old west and how/what they used it for.

Obviously they had like guns and stuff, but I can't find much else other than that.
Unless I'm just dumb or something.

Any ideas?
Any help would be awesome. =]

Ok, obviously they used horses, cars signified the end of the "old west"
They used sprung and unsprung animal drawn wagons
used manual branding irons over coals
cooking pots over campfire not electric/gas
Hand Crafted tools (blacksmiths) not machine engineered tools.
most clothes were hand stitched but sewing machines turning up.
