Contemporary kitchen: oak chair rails and accessories?
My husband and I just bought a home with oak cabinets in the kitchen (with brass - Yuck. There is a chair rail, oak trim and mostly oak floors throughout the house. Although I like the floor (especially old wood floors, no new and old) I do not like the look of the country. I prefer a more eclectic / modern / Asian feel, if that makes sense at all. I wonder how I can design a budget. I like the white edges, but my husband and I are mortified as to how much work it can be. I thought about removing the chair rail, but I'm afraid we're going to make holes in the walls! Can I still get an updated view of the paint on the chair rail? I also thought the replacement some of the doors of kitchen cabinets with glass and change the controls with a brushed nickel or something. I need an expert opinion. Help!
Hi, update your kitchen can be easier than you think! Today kitchens are so eclectic and designed to suit a client's lifestyle. Kitchens today are more lighter and less use of wall cabinets. There's more open and exposed shelving, making the attention of the dishes. My suggestion: remove some of the doors Wall cabinet ... maintain a balance, if you ever take a right, then remove from the left. Place of Asia / kitchenware Contemporary Style the shelves. Add color, texture and style. 2nd Tip: Stain the chair rail a darker color to complement the existing cabinets. Take this spot and stain the back of the furniture displayed or rear glass cabinets. Use the counter-stain to add interest and to update the look of the kitchen. Can be used in other areas, like an island or the hood. Not much ... just enough to add that punch of color to tie it all together. I designed an Asian cuisine use this light / dark and affects was beautiful! Do not forget to add crockery to complement the color palette.
