HELP - What do you think of this barrel racing saddle?

My barrel saddle is too big so I'm selling it and buying a smaller one.

Are these saddles good quality?

It is $449 (Lanta Saddlery)...but it doesn't look crappy to me.

It is $489 (Lanta Saddlery). Again it doesn't look crappy or anything...but what do you think?

Which one is better? Do you think the leather looks like it is decent quality?

I can not afford Billy Cook, Circle Y, Tex Tan brand saddles. Dont recommend them to me...I know they are the best quality but I cant afford them.

This isn't what you want to hear, but I don't like either of them. I think it defeats the purpose to have a barrel saddle with no rough out. The point of the rough out is to help secure you better in the turns. If I had to choose one it would be the second. But just as a though, have you tried looking for any used saddles? I picked up my TexTan for $300. It needed some cleaning and a really good oil, but it's great. A lot of the time it's the old saddles that are the better quality. I just put a want ad out on craigslist and someone e-mailed me. Good luck on your saddle hunt, it sucks!
