why do western people know so little about real muslims and islam? ?
also, why do non-muslims think a woman who wear a head scarf (hijab) are repressed by men? why do so many people equate terrorism with people who are muslim? i feel that the western media is a powerful tool and people are very influenced and hugely misguided and misinformed around muslim people and those in the middle east and other muslim countries. i know i am speaking in general too much but i hope you get my point. I'm a catholic irish woman with an interest in trying to open my mind. thank you!

It's to do with the media alright, but how gullible a person can be to absorb anything fed to them without questioning their credibility. Little is known about Islam, yet they see it fair to throw unfounded judgment.
Islam is the first religion to equal between men and women, and if they think women are oppressed, then it is everywhere, sexism and domestic violence are as much in the West as in the muslim countries.
I really wish everyone can be so open minded and do their homework, before believing in lies.
